New Delhi : President of India Ram Nath Kovind on September 30, 2017, appointed Governors of five states including Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Assam. Satya Pal Malik, aformer Union Minister of State, has been appointed the new Governor of Bihar.
The post of Bihar governor had fallen vacant after incumbent Ram Nath Kovind was made NDA candidate for the presidential poll and resigned from his post. West Bengal Governor Keshri Nath Tripathy was acting as Bihar Governor too. Satya Pal Malik is a former vice-president of the BJP.
Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Assam, has been appointed the Governor of Tamil Nadu. Jagdish Mukhi has been made the new Governor of Assam. Brig.( retd) Dr B D Mishra has been appointed the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
A veteran BJP leader from Bihar Ganga Prasad has been appointed Governor of Meghalaya. Prasad was Member of Bihar legislative council for 18 years and was leader of opposition for five years. His son is a BJP legislator from Digha, Patna.
Admiral (Retd.) Devendra Kumar Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM, has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands in place of Prof Jagdish Mukhi.
These appointments will take effect from the dates the incumbents assume charge of their respective offices, according to a PIB release.
