New Delhi: Led by Secretary General Ambuj Sharma, senior officers and staff of the National Human Rights Commission ( NHRC) organized a cleanliness drive on the road facing the main gate of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi, on September 29, 2017.

Prior to this, they cleaned the area around the Commission’s premises at GPO complex, INA, on September 28. They are plannning to organize cleanliness drive periodically, mainly at public places, keeping in tune with the spirit of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ and motivate others to inculcate the habit and culture of cleanliness.

The NHRC believes that people will have to shun this notion that keeping clean their surroundings is somebody else’s job not theirs. The people need to understand that if they can cause litter, they will have to clean it also. Right to health is very closely linked to clean environment and every individual is responsible to protect each others’ human rights, according to an NHRC release.
