Bihar govt rejects Tejaswi’s plea to retain 5, Deshratna Marg, bungalow

Patna : Nitish government has rejected the request of  RJD leader and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav’s to allow him to retain 5, Deshratna Marg, bungalow alloted to him when he was the deputy chief minister in Mahagathbandhan ( Grand Alliance) government. The 5, Deshratna Marg, bungalow has now been alloted to the Deputy CM in NDA government Sushil Kumar Modi. The 5, Deshrtana Marg, bungalow has now been earmarked for the Deputy Chief Minister.

The reallocation of ministerial bungalows was made in August by an order of the Building Construction Department (BCD) , to accommodate 14 ministers of the BJP and one of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) in the new government. There will be no change in the office order for allocation of bungalows for anybody, said BCD Minister Maheshwar Hazari. The 1, Polo Road bungalow, which Tejaswi would swap with Modi, would now be the permanent address of the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly. Tejaswi, the younger son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, had written a letter to CM Nitish Kumar following the BCD order, with a prayer to allow him to retain the 5, Deshratna Marg bungalow. The BCD order is apparently a setback to Tejaswi.

Nitish had on September 11, 2017, said, “One should not develop any personal attachment towards a government facility. Today I am on the seat, but it is not permanent.” The RJD criticised the government order reallocating the bungalows.

According to the BCD order, the 3, Deshratna Marg bungalow, which was earlier allotted to Tejaswi’s elder brother and former health minister Tej Pratap Yadav, has now been marked for the chairperson of Bihar legislative council.
