Patna : A nine-member constitution bench of the Supreme Court of India headed by Chief Justice J S Khehar, in a historic judgement delivered on August 24, 2017, unanimously declared that the right to privacy is a Fundamental Right under the Constitution. The constitution bench ruled that right to privacy is an intrinsic part of Right to Life and Personal Liberty under Article 21 and entire part 3 of the Constitution. It may bementioned here that the  Centre’s move to make Aadhaar mandatory for availing the benefits of various social welfare schemes was challenged by a batch of petitions.
