Bagaha : Flood situation under Bagaha sub-division in West Champaran district deteriorated further at 4 am on August 15, 2017,  when Piparasi-Pipara right Gandak embankment along Bihar-Uttar Pradesh border breached in a stretch of 50 metre near Chandrapur under Bhitaha block. The breach is widening fast and  flood water is ghusing toward countryside.

About one dozen villages including Chandrapur, Bairatawa, Bhuyeedharawa, Ulatahawa Machhaha,Umatola, Rupatola, Malahi tola, Motipur and Koeripatti under Bhitaha and Thakaraha blocks having a population about 20,000 have been inundated with knee to chest deep flood water  entering houses. The flood affected people have taken shelter on Machan ( high platforms) while about 5,000 persons have left their houses with their children by tractor trailors and on foot for  Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh.
