DCEO, Bhojpur, lodges FIR against PACS President, Osai Panchayat

Ara : District Cooperative Extension Officer (DCEO), Bhojpur, Bajrangi Prasad Gupta, on August 7, 2017, lodged an FIR with Bihia police station against the President, Primary Agriculture Credit Society (PACS), Osai Panchayat, Jitednra Singh, in connection with alleged misappropriation of rice worth  Rs 45 lakh.

DCEO Gupta said that the Central Cooperative Bank, Bhojpur, had approved Rs 45 lakh cash credit to the PACS president, Osai Panchayat, Jitendra Singh, for the 2016-2017 fiscal. The PACS president procured 3,017.90 quintal of paddy from 58 farmers and District Manager (DM), State Food Corporation (SFC), had physically verified it.

During verification, the DM found that the SFC had ordered transfer of 1,333.166 quintal of proportionate CMR rice in place of 1,989.80 quintal of paddy procured by the PACS president. The PACS president did no take order for replacement of 1,028.10 quintal of paddy either from the office of the DCEO or the SFC. He has not supplied the CMR rice in place of procured paddy so far despite several reminder from the concerned department, DCEO Gupta said.

The DCEO said that neither paddy nor rice was found in the godown of the PACS president that revealed that he had embezzled 3017.90 quintal of procured paddy worth about Rs 45 lakh at the rate of Rs 1,485 per quintal.
