Ara : The Economic Offence Unit (EOU) will assist Bhojpur police in the investigation of the land scam involving sale and purchase of  Methodist Church land at Ara. Bhojpur SP Kshatranil  Singh has asked the  incharge, EOU, B K Brajesh, Ara, to help the local police in the investigation of the case.

The Investigation Officer of the case Chandrashekhar Gupta had demanded some officials for speedy investigation of the case. As the land scam is directly related to Economic Offence so the officials of the department concerned have been asked to cooperate in cracking the case.

A  named FIR was lodged with Nawada police station, Ara, against 22 persons including the owner of hotel and a contractor for allegedly getting registration of about two acres of government land (Kaishar-e-Hind) (khata  no 1766 and khesara nos 2600 and  2601) near the Methodist Church, Ramana Maidan under Nawada Police Station on  July 16, 2017, through fake documents in November 2016 and January 2017 without informing the Income Tax department.  The Income Tax Department is looking into the cash books, bank accounts and Income Tax return filed by the purchasers during demonetization.

Police are yet to make a breakthrough in the case even after lapse nine days of lodging of an FIR in connection with illegal purchase and sale of government land despite having sufficient proofs against them.
