8 injured in clash between two families at Saharsa village

Saharsa : Eight persons were injured in a violent clash betwwen two families at village Ghoghanpatti under Patarghat police outpost (OP) in Saharsa district on July 21, 2017, over delay in repayment of loan on interest taken by one of the families. The injured included four persons from each side.

The injured were admitted to the local Primary Health Centre (PHC) from where they were referred to Sadar Hospital, Saharsa. The injured from one side were identified as Vinod Yadav, Anil Yadav, Ajay Yadav and Bechni Devi while the injured from the other side were Sunil Yadav, Kanchan Devi, Naresh Yadav and Binil Yadav.

Sunil Yadav claimed that Vinod Yadav and his wife Runa Devi had taken Rs 50,000 from him as loan at 5 % interest rate about 18 months back but the amount had not yet been returned despite repated reminders. A panchayat was also held at the village in this connection sometime back but to no avail, Sunil said. On July 21, he alleged, Vinod Yadav and his men attacked him and his family members with sticks. Vinod Yadav’s side, however, attributed the incident to their goat grazing the harvested crops at Sunil’ Yadav’s house two months back.
