Patna : The security guards of Bihar Deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav manhandled some mediapersons on State Secretariat premises on July 12, 2017, when they were trying to seek his comments on the JD(U) suggestion to him on to come clean vis-à-vis charges levelled against him by the CBI and Income-tax (IT) department.

Tejaswi was expected to speak to mediapersons after the State Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat. But, when the journalist tried to speak to him after he came out of the Cabinet meeting, his security guards not only manhandled some of them but also beat them up. Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi demanded dismissal of all the security guards concerned for humiliating and thrashing mediapersons. Surprisingly, Tejaswi did not intervene nor stopped his security guards from manhandling journalists.

The Central Bureau of Investigation on July 5, 2017, registered a case against the then Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his wife and former CM Rabri Devi, his younger son and Deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav, two Directors of a private Hotel Ltd. Company,  the then MD, IRCTC, and some others  on the allegations of awarding the tender for development, maintenance and operation of BNR Hotels at Ranchi and Puri to the said private Hotel Ltd. Company in 2006. The CBI also conducted raid at the official residence of Rabri Devi, 10, Circular Road, on July 7 and even quizzed her and Tejaswi.

Tejaswi on July 12 said that he would not quit over charges of corruption. Rubbishing the CBI charges against him, Tejaswi asserted that he could not have indulged in any wrong doing as 13-14 year old boy. Tejaswi said he was being subjected to political vendetta by the BJP.

CM Nitish Kumar had on July 11 told the JD(U) leaders including legislators and MPs at a meeting here that he was firm on his resolve of zero tolerance against corruption.
