Muzaffarpur : DIG, Tirhut Range, Anil Kumar Singh, has said that a thorough investigation would be carried out into suicide by SHO, Panapur, police outpost, in Muzaffarpur district, Sanjay Gaur, who was removed as SHO, Gaighat police station, within two days of his posting there. Gaur had committed suicide on July 2, 2017, by shooting himself in head by his service revolver.

Sanjay Gaur’s widow Kalyani, in a petition circulated among the mediapersons on July 3, had alleged that her husband was removed from Gaighat PS as he could not pay a certain amount to the officer concerned. She alleged that Rs 10 lakh was demanded from Gaur of which Rs 6.5 lakh had already been realised from him.

But, when a Muzaffarpur police team headed by DSP Krishna Murari reached Siwan on July 3, 2017, evening, to speak to her, she said she was in a state of shock after death of her husband and during that period her signature was taken on a few papers. But, in her petition submitted to Muzaffarpur police team, a copy of which was also given to Darauli police station, Siwan, Kalyani has not mentioned anything about demand of Rs 10 lakh from her husband allegedly by SSP, Muzaffarpur, Vivek Kumar, according to ASP, Siwan, Kartikey Sharma, IPS. Vivek Kumar was SP, Siwan, in 2013-14.
