Motihari : Several organisation in East Champaran district have joined hands and started a signature campaign demanding inclusion of Bhojpuri language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution. The organisations involved in the signature campaign include Champaran Chhatra Sangh, Bhojpuri Sahyog Manch and Seva.

About 150 persons including Gandhian Braj Kishore Singh and Ward Councillor Gulrej Sahzad on June 19, 2017, signed a memorandum seeking constitutional status to the Bhojpuri language at the gate of Gandhi Sangrhalay. The signature campaign was led by Taiyyab Hasan Raj of  Bhojpuri Sahyog Manch. Champaran Chhatra Sangh convener Vikas Raj said the people are determined to get constitutional status to the Bhojpuri language. President of East Champaran unit of Seva Kumar Nikhil Vivek demanded action against those involved in vulgarising Bhojpuri language.
