Woman killed by in-laws at Bhojpur village, no arrest

Ara  : Sheela Devi, daughter of Bihari Mahto of village Dhangawa, was allegedly killed by her in-laws and the body was disposed off to wipe out evidence at village Kapurdihara under Tarari police station in Bhojpur district on June 17, 2017, evening.

An FIR has been lodged with Tarari police station against her father-in-law Lallan Mahto, husband Dhanji Mahto, brothers-in-law Shekhar Mahto and Badha Mahto, wives of both the brothers-in-law and daughter of Shekhar on the statement of deceased’s father but no arrest has so far been made in this connection.

SHO, Tarari police station, Shashikant, said that Sheela Devi daughter of Bihari Mahto of Dhangawa village under Tarari police station, was married to Dhanji Mahto, son of Lallan Mahto of Kapurdihara village in 2009. She always protested illicit relation of her husband allegedly with one of his sisters-in-law (bhabhi), the SHO said. But, her husband continued his relation with his Bhabhi and that was the reason he had no issue with his wife even after eight years of their marriage, the SHO said quoting Bihari Mahto.

Bihari Mahto said that the villagers informed him on June 17 evening that his daughter was killed and the body had been disposed off. He along with his relatives immediately reached Kapurdihara but all the members of her in-laws’ family had escaped.
