Ara : The Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, administration, complying with the guidelines of the University Grant Commission (UGC), on June 7, 2017, directed Principals all the constituent and affiliated colleges to start Aid-on-Courses in their respective colleges.

This course is of six month duration. A student can do this course side by side with their graduate or Post Graduate courses. As per the guidelines, a college needs to get approval from the respective university to start this course.

The VKSU administration had earlier directed all the colleges to send their list to the university but barring a few, most of the colleges did not pay heed to this direction and so the university administration on June 7 again directed Principals of all the colleges to send their proposal for starting Aid on Courses in their respective colleges after getting the proposal duly passed by the college committees.

Sources in the VKSU said that Shershah College, Sasaram, had shown keen interest to start the Aid on Course and had sent the proposal to the VKSU in 2016  and the academic council of the university had approved the proposal. Likewise, the Jagjiwan College, Ara, also sent its proposal to the university earlier this year to start Aid on Course in the college in four fields such as Certificate on Floriculture, Computer Information Technology, Yoga and Mass Communication but the academic council of the university is yet to approve it.

Vice Chancellor, VKSU, Sayyad Mumtazuddin said that the duration of the Aid on Course is merely six months and it can be done along with graduate and Post graduate courses. He said that list of more than 300 Aid on Course is available on the website of the UGC and a college is free to choose the courses that suit the college atmosphere and infrastructure. He further said that this course is job oriented and a BA or PG student can take this course. The colleges will conduct the examination and give degrees which would be of certificate course nature. The VC stated that the university administration is making every endeavour to start the Aid on Course in every college from this  academic session.
