Governor pleads for docu on welfare schemes for army personnel

Patna : Bihar governor Ram Nath Kovind on May 9, 2017, said that the meetings of Armed Forces Flag Day Committee should be held at least thricen a year to facilitate review of army personnel welfare schemes and accelerating the pace of fund collection for `Ex-servicemen Benevolent Fund’.

The governor was addressing the meeting of Armed Forces Flag Day committee meeting held at Raj Bhavan. The governor, who presided over the meeting, said that over Rs 1.58 crore were deposited into the Ex-servicemen Benevolent Fund between December 7, 2015, and December 6, 2016, which was a record. He said that apart from the government departments, universities, colleges, banks, business establishments and different associations should also be involved voluntarily in collection of fund for the Benevolent Fund. He also suggested for making a documentary on the welfare schemes being run for army personnel.

Tirhut Division was awarded for the maximum collection of fund for benevolent fund and Commissioner, R K Khandelwal, received the award. VKSU, Ara,  was awarded for maximum collection of fund by a state university and VC Saiyyad Mumtajuddin received the award.  Samastipur district collected maximum fund among the districts and M S College, Motihari, among the colleges in the state.
