Patna: For the first since its inception on May 21, 2011, the River police station at Maujipur in Patna rural on February 12 arrested three liquor smugglers with a carton of IMFL from a boat coming to Patna from Hajipur in Vaishali district via Ganga.
DSP, Fatuha Sanoj Kumar said that acting on a tip of, a River police station team led by its SHO intercepted a boat coming to Patna side from Hajipur (Vaishali) and during search of the boat, the cops found one carton of IMFL (Royal Stag). He said that there were 40 bottles of liquor each having 180 ml.
DSP further said that the arrested persons were identified as Nitish Paswan, Vijay Paswan and Ranjit Rai, all natives of village Bahrampur under Rustampur police station in Vaishali district. He said that an FIR (case no.-1/2017) had been lodged in this connection under Bihar Excise (Amendment) Act, 2016. Police sources said that the River police station was inaugurated in 2011 by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar at Maujipur to check crime through river.
