9 persons killed, 5 injured as Hywa dashes Pick-Up van

Bagaha : Nine persons were killed and five others injured, two of them seriously, in a collision between a Pick-Up van and a Chips laden Hywa on Lauria -Ramnagar highway near Baragazawa Shahi Bagicha under Ramnagar police station in Bagaha police district around 11 am on April 6, 2019.

Sources said that Pick-Up van, carrying over a dozen men and women from village Jogia Dhustola in Deoraj -Pakari panchayat under Ramnagar block to Madhopur Bairia under Narakatiaganj Sub-Division in West Champaran district to participate at a function, and the Chips laden Ujjain construction company Hywa were in going in the same direction. As soon as the Pick-Up van tried to overtake the Hywa, the latter dashed it. As a result, the Pick-Up van fell into roadside ditch with Hywa falling over it.

The deceased were identified as Gulfam, Mohd. Babu, Arabaz, Sabu Nesha, Nurul Hoda, Shaqur Ali, Mushkan Khatoon, Rabulla Khatoon, Sadima Khatoon. The injured included Abdul Rahman, Murtaza, Rukhsana Khatoon, Nasib Khan, and Mohd. Asalam. The injured were  admitted  to PHC, Ramnagar, and MJK hospital Bettiah.

Angry villagers of Deboraj Pakari panchayat registered their strong protest over the incident and vehicles of BDO, Ramnagar, Jitendar Kumar, CO, Ramnagar, Vinod Mishra, and  SDPO, Ramnagar, Arjuna Lal, were damaged. DM, West Champaran, SP, Bagaha, Arvind Kumar Gupta, reached the spot.
