Sitamarhi : The 8th phase of Panchayat elections in Sitamarhi District in North Bihar passed off peacefully on November 24, 2021. The panchayat elections were held under Riga and Suppi blocks amid tight security arrangements. Sitamarhi DM Sunil Kumar Yadav and SP Har Kishore Rai visited several booths on the day.
There are 239 polling booths in Riga block for 1,43,257 voters. Altogether 82,312 voters earmarked for Suppi and they exercised their mandate at 151 booths. The voters of the two blocks would decide the fate of 3,439 candidates.

The administrative arrangements were adequate to handle any situation with special attention to naxal and sensitive areas. Women voters participated in the election process enthusiasm. The Indo-Nepal border remained sealed during the polls.  The district administration strictly followed Covid-19 guidelines.
