Patna : Bihar recorded 8th death due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) on May 17, 2020, as a 55 year old man from Pasraha Panchayat in Khagaria District died due to the disease at Gogri Referral Hospital on May 15, 2020, early morning.

The deceased was a diabetic for the past two years and had travelled by Shramik Special Train from Mumbai and Khagaria via Saharsa. He reached Khagaria on May 13, 2020, evening. He died due to Cardio Pulmonary arrest. The deceased was found Coronavirus positive along with his wife. Khagaria District in North Bihar has reported 43 Coronavirus confirmed cases till date of which one patient died. Munger district has reported 125 confirmed cases while Patna has reported 106 confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 death toll jumped to 2,872 on May 17, 2020, morning, with 120 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during past 24 hours. The death toll break-up is : Maharashtra (1,135), Gujarat (625), MP (243), West Bengal (232), Delhi (129), Rajasthan (126), UP (104), Tamilnadu (74), Andhra Pradesh (49), Karnataka (36), Telangana (34), Punjab (32), Haryana (13), J&K (12), Kerala (4), Himachal Pradesh (3), Jharkhand (3), Odisha (3), Chandigarh (3), Assam (2), Meghalaya (1), Puducherry (1), and Uttarakhand (1).
