Ara: Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU) administration on Monday suspended Principal S B College, Ara, Ram Janam Sharma, former Principal incharge, Maharaja College, Ara, M K Pandey for allegedly admitting students in BA Part I exceeding the allotted quota. Sharma, who was was suspended on May 30, was to retire from service on May 31.

The university administration took this step after an inquiry report by a three- member committee formed by the university. Earlier, two employees of the S B College and three employees of Maharaja College were suspended on the same charge.

VKSU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Leela Chand Sah said that these colleges had taken admission of students in BA Part I beyond the allotted quota. Due to irregularities in admission , the university did not send registration numbers to over 1,000 students of BA Part I hence they could not fill up their examination forms this year.

After the university did not issue registration numbers to them, the students resorted to agitation at their respective colleges and also made the VC captive in his chamber recently. Sensing the mood of the students, the VC formed a three- member committee to inquire into the matter.
