New Delhi : The phenomenal increase in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured/discharged continues in India with 84,877 patients being declared cured during last 24 hours taking the tally to 51,01,397 in the country at 8 am on September 29, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases (9,47,576) by a huge margin of 41,53,821. On the other hand, 70,589 new cases were also reported during the same period taking the tally to 61,45,291 in the country till date. The number of active cases was 15.42 % of the total cases (61,45,291) on September 29, 2020.

The COVID-19 death toll increased to 96,318 in India on September 29, 2020, with 776 new deaths, the lowest in recent weeks, being reported from different parts of the country including 180 from Maharashtra, 70 from Tamilnadu, 58 from Uttar Pradesh, 56 from West Bengal, 59 from Karnataka, 37 from Delhi, 46 from Punjab, 37 from Andhra Pradesh, 29 from Chhattisgarh, 20 from Kerala, 12 from Gujarat, 24 from Haryana, and 35 from MP. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.57 % in the country on September 29, 2020.

The country has tested  7,31,10,041 samples till date including 11, 42,811 samples on September 28, 2020. Of the 61,45,291 COVID cases reported in the country till date, a total of 51,01,397 patients have been declared cure with the recovery rate being 83.01%.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on September 29, 2020, is : Maharashtra (35,751), Tamilnadu (9,383), Karnataka (8,641), Delhi (5,272), Andhra Pradesh (5,745), Uttar Pradesh (5,652), West Bengal (4,837), Gujarat (3,428), Madhya Pradesh (2,242), Rajasthan (1,456),  Punjab (3,284), Telengana (1,116), J&K (1,146), Haryana (1,331), Bihar (892), Odisha (813), Jharkhand (688), Assam (667), Uttarakhand (580), Kerala (697),  Chhattisgarh (877), Puducherry (515), Goa (407), Tripura (276), Chandigarh (153),  Andaman & Nicobar (53), Himachal Pradesh (180), Ladakh (58), Manipur (64), Nagaland (17), Meghalaya (46), Arunachal Pradesh (15), Sikkim (34), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).
