Motihari /Muzaffarpur : Prohibition & Excise Department sleuths, on a tip off  during their on going operation against illegal liquor trade, seized 8,400 bottles of IMFL worth Rs 34 lakh  from the chamber of an oil tanker stranded near a line hotel  on NH28  neat Kotawa in East Champaran District on September 16, 2019. The driver of the oil tanker, however, escaped from the spot.

Excise Superintendent, East Champaran, Awinash Prakash, told this scribe that the tanker was seized  and its registration number was being verified  after lodging a case in this connection.  He suspects the consignment  was brought over from UP  to Muzaffarpur.

In Muzaffarpur,  the Excise Department  sleuths  intercepted a truck near Chandani Ch0wk on NH28  on September 16 and seized 300 cartons of IMFL  worth Rs 1 crore  This consignment was coming from Haryana and was to be delivered in Muzaffarpur and Darbhanga areas by liquor  mafias. Two persons including  the driver and co- driver of the truck were  arrested and the truck was seized, said Excise Superintendent, Muzaffarpur, Deen Bandhu.
