New Delhi : A total of 83,011 COVID-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in India during last 24 hours taking the tally to 58,27,704 at 8 am on October 8, 2020, exceeding the number of active patients (9,02,425) by a massive margin of 49,25,279. The country also reported 78,524 new COVID patients during the same period taking the tally to 68,35,655 at 8 am on October 8, 2020. The number of active cases ( 9,02,425) is 13.20% of the total COVID cases (68,35,655) reported till date in the country.
Of the 68,35,655 COVID cases reported so far in India, altogether 58,27,704 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate being 85.25%. The country has tested 8,34,65,975 samples so far including 11,94,321 samples on October 7, 2020.
The COVID-19 too, on the other hand, increased to 1,05,526 in India on October 8, 2020, with 971 new deaths being reported from different places during last 24 hours including 355 from Maharashtra, 113 from Karnataka, 67 rom Tamilnadu, 58 from West Bengal, 47 from Uttar Pradesh, 35 from Delhi, 34 from Andhra Pradesh, 33 from Punjab, 30 from Madhya Pradesh, 30 from Chhattisgarh, 22 from Kerala, 19 from Haryana, 14 from J&K, 12 from Gujarat, and 7 from Assam. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.54% in the country on October 8, 2020.
The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on October 8, 2020, is : Maharashtra (39,072), Tamilnadu (9,984), Karnataka (9,574), Delhi (5,616), Andhra Pradesh (6,086), Uttar Pradesh (6,200), West Bengal (5,376), Gujarat (3,531), Madhya Pradesh (2,518), Rajasthan (1,590), Punjab (3,712), Telengana (1,201), J&K (1,282), Haryana (1,528), Bihar (927), Odisha (958), Jharkhand (767), Assam (785), Uttarakhand (688), Kerala (906), Chhattisgarh (1,134), Puducherry (551), Goa (477), Tripura (304), Chandigarh (182), Andaman & Nicobar (54), Himachal Pradesh (231), Ladakh (63), Manipur (80), Nagaland (17), Meghalaya (60), Arunachal Pradesh (21), Sikkim (49), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).
