New Delhi : The phenomenal increase in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured/discharged continues in India with 79,292 patients being declared cured during last 24 hours taking the tally to 38,59,399 till date in the country at 8 am on September 15, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases (9,90,061) by a huge margin of 28,69,338. The country, however, also reported 83,809 new cases during last 24 hours taking the tally 49,30,236 on September 15, 2020.

Of the 49,30,236 COVID-19 cases reported so far in the country, altogether 38,59,399 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate being 78.28%. India has tested 5,83,12,273 COVID samples so far including 10,72,845 samples tested September 14, 2020. The number of active cases (9,90,061) in the country was 20.08 % of the total COVID cases (49,30,236) reported till date on September 15.

The COVID-19 death toll jumped to 80,776 in India on September 15 with 1,054 new deaths being reported from different places across the country during last 24 hours including 363 from Maharashtra, 119 from Karnataka, 53 from Tamilnadu, 60 from Andhra Pradesh, 68 from Punjab, 62 from UP, 58 from West Bengal, 29 from MP, 26 from Delhi, 17 from Gujarat, and 14 from Rajasthan. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.64% in the country on September 15, 2020, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on September 15, 2020, is : Maharashtra (29,894), Tamilnadu (8,434), Karnataka (7,384), Delhi (4,770), Andhra Pradesh (4,972), Uttar Pradesh (4,491), West Bengal (4,003), Gujarat (3,227), Madhya Pradesh (1,791), Rajasthan (1,250),  Punjab (2,424), Telengana (984), J&K (895), Haryana (1,000), Bihar (831), Odisha (637), Jharkhand (561), Assam (482), Uttarakhand (429), Kerala (454),  Chhattisgarh (573), Puducherry (394), Goa (290), Tripura (207), Chandigarh (98),  Andaman & Nicobar (52), Himachal Pradesh (82), Ladakh (41), Manipur (46), Nagaland (10), Meghalaya (27), Arunachal Pradesh (11), Sikkim (16), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).
