New Delhi : Altogether 73,979 COVID-19 patients were declared cured/discharged in India during last 24 hours taking the tally to 69,48,497 at 8 am on October 23, 2020, exceeding the number of active cases (6,95,509) by a huge margin of 62,52,988. The country, on the other hand, also recorded 54,366 new COVID-19 cases during last 24 hours taking the tally to 77,61,312 cases till date. The number of active cases was 8.96% of the total COVID-19 cases ( 77,61,312) on October 23, 2020.
Of the 77,61,312 COVID-19 cases recorded till date in the country, a total of 69,48,497 patients have been declared cured so far with the recovery rate being 89.53%. India also crossed 10 crore mark in testing samples on October 23, 200. The country has tested 10,01,13,085 samples till date including 14,42,722 samples on October 22, 2020.
The COVID-19 toll increased to 1,17,306 in the country on October 23 with 690 new deaths being reported from different places across the country including 198 from Maharashtra, 74 from Karnataka, 64 from West Bengal, 52 from Chhattisgarh, 45 from Tamilnadu, 35 from Delhi, 35 from Uttar Pradesh, 23 from Kerala, 16 from Andhra Pradesh, 14 from Madhya Pradesh, 15 from Odisha, 14 from Haryana, 12 from Punjab, 12 from Rajasthan, 8 from Uttarakhand, 8 from Jharkhand, 7 from Gujarat, 7 from Bihar, and 7 from Assam. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.51% in the country on October 23, 2020.
