New Delhi : In an alarming spike, a total of 72,330 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in India in last 24 hours, the highest in recent months, taking the tally to 1,22,21,665 cases in the country at 8 am April 1, 2021. India had recorded 53,480 Covid-19 cases on March 31, 2021. On the positive side, a total of 40,382 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,14,74, 683 on April 1, 2021.
The Active cases (5,84,055) on April 1, 2021, accounted for 4.78% of the total cases (1,22,21,665) on April 1, 2021, an increase of 31,489 cases in last 24 hours. India has tested 24,47,98,621 samples so far including 11,25,681 samples on March 31, 2021. Meanwhile, 6,51,17,896 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 20,63,543 beneficiaries on March 31, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients dropped to 93.89% in India on April 1, 2021, from 94.11% on March 31, 2021.
The Covd-19 toll jumped to 1,62,927 in India on April 1, 2021, with 459 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 227 in Maharashtra, 55 in Punjab, 39 in Chhattisgarh, 26 in Karnataka, 19 in Tamilnadu, 15 in kerala, 11 in Delhi, 11 in Uttar Pradesh, 9 in Madhya Pradesh, 9 in Gujarat, 8 in Haryana, 5 in Rajasthan, 4 in Andhra Pradesh, 4 in J&K, 4 in Telengana, 4 in Uttarakhand, 3 in Himachal Pradesh, 2 in West Bengal, and 2 in Bihar. India had recorded 354 new deaths on March 31, 2021. The case fatality rate dropped to 1.33% in the country on April 1, 2021.
