New Delhi : With 70,338 COVID-19 patients being declared cured/discharged in India during last 24 hours, the number of active cases dropped to 8,04,528 in the country at 8 am on October 16, 2020. Altogether 64,53,779 COVID-19 patients have been declared cured in the country till date. The country, on the other hand, also reported 63,371 new COVID-19 cases during last 24 hours taking the tally to 73,70,468 at 8 am on October 16.The number of active cases was 10.92% of the total COVID-19 cases ( 73,70,468) on October 16. On October 15, 2020, 81,514 COVID-19 patients were declared cured while 67,708 new cases were reported.
Of the 73,70,468 COVID-19 cases reported till date in the country, a total of 64,53,779 patients have been declared cured with the recovery rate being 87.56%. India has tested 9,22,54,927 samples so far including 10,28,622 samples on October 15, 2020.
The COVID-19 toll climbed to 1,12,161 on the day with 895 new deaths being reported from different places across the country including 337 from Maharashtra, 49 from Tamilnadu, 85 from Karnataka, 26 from Delhi, 46 from Chhattisgarh, 38 from Andhra Pradesh, 27 from Odisha, 9 from Assam, 11 from Gujarat, 23 from Kearala, 14 from Rajasthan, 9 from Jharkhand, 6 from J&K, 5 from Bihar, 24 from Madhya Pradesh, 29 from Punjab, 36 from Uttar Pradesh, 18 from Uttarakhand, and 62 from West Bengal. The Case Fatality Rate was 1.52% in the country on October 16, 2020.
