Ara : Police, on a tip off,  arrested seven liquor smugglers and seized 400 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) at Semaria-Padaria Shmashan Ghat under Barahara police station in Bhojpur district the wee hours on  August 29, 2017.  Police also seized five mobiles, three motorcycles and a boat.

The arrested smugglers were identified as Dharmendra Kumar Rai, son of Ram Babu Rai, Chhotu Kumar, son of Sunain Yadav, Sonadhari Rai, son of Sudarshan Rai, Vinay Rai, son of Guddu Rai, Tarkeshwar Rai, son of Shiv Prasad Rai of Lal Ke Tola under Barahara police station, Shashi Bhushan Kuer, son of Vishwanth Kuer of village Nathmalpur, and Paramjit Singh, son of Ram Nath Singh of village Saraiya  under Krishnagarha police station. Later, they were forwarded to jail after an FIR was lodged them under the Prohibition and Excise Act.

SHO, Barahara police station, Manoj Kumar said that he was informed that some liquor smugglers were bringing IMFL by boat ferrying across river Ganga. He immediately swung into action and deployed force on the bank of the river. As the boat came, some liquor smugglers got down from it with big consignment of liquor. Police arrested seven of them when they were handing over the consignment to the party.
