Ara : With the Election Commission of India (ECI) on April 22, 2019, issuing notification for the seventh phase Lok Sabha (LS) elections, Bhojpur district administration has geared up to hold  free, fair, peaceful, and transparent polls to Ara parliamentary constituency (PC) on May 19, 2019.

At a joint press conference, Bhojpur District Magistrate (DM) cum District Election Officer (DEO) Sanjeev Kumar and SP Aditya Kumar, said that said that the candidates will have have to declare in the newspapers and TV channels about criminal cases, if any,  pending against them or about any conviction 48 hours before the polling day.

The DEO said that the EVMs have been earmarked assembly constituencywise. The polling persons have been trained in the EVM and the VVPAT and  the second training would be imparted after May 2, 2019. The DEO further said that seven all women polling booths have been set up where only women will be deputed on poll duty and even security guards will be women. The DEO further said that the candidates going to file their nomination papers will be allowed only three vehicles and will enter the office of the Returning Officer only with five persons.

Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said that all security arrangements have been made for the elections and added that 15 companies of para-military force have been deployed in the district. He said that polling booths have been made at 1,290 buildings and each building has been covered with police and paramilitary forces. He said that at least 18,000 persons have been booked under Section 107 CrPC and FIR against 140 persons has been lodged for violation of Model Code of Conduct while 120 persons have been charge-sheeted so far. He said that 1,350 firearms and over 10,000 cartridges have been submitted but still 2,000 arms remain to be submitted.

The SP further said that Crime Control Act (CCA) has been imposed against 25 criminals and they have been directed to register their attendance at police station shown against their names in the list.
