New Delhi : Covid-19 situation continues to be grim in India as 68,020 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,20,39,644 at 8 am on March 29, 2021. On the other hand, 32,231 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,13,55,993 on March 29, 2021. A total of 62,714 Covid-19 cases were recorded in India on March 28, 2021.

The active cases (5,21,808) on March 29, 2021, accounted for 4.33% of the total Covid-19 cases (1,20,39,644) on March 29, 2021, a surge of 35,498 cases in last 24 hours in the country. India has tested 24,18,64,161 samples so far including 9,13,319 samples on March 28, 2021. Meanwhile, a total of 6,05,30,435 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 2,60,653 beneficiaries on March 28, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid patients dropped to 94.32% in India on March 29, 2021, from 94.59% on March 28, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The Covid-19 toll jumped to 1,61,843 in India on March 29, 2021, with 291 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 108 in Maharashtra, 69 in Punjab, 15 in Chhattisgarh, 12 in Kerala, 12 in Karnataka, 11 in Tamilnadu, 11 in Madhya Pradesh, 9 in Haryana, 9 in Delhi, 8 in Gujarat, 3 in Uttar Pradesh, 3 in Jharkhand, 2 in West Bengal, and 1 in Bihar. India had recorded 312 new deaths on March 28, 2021. The Case Fatality Rate dropped to 1.34% in India on March 29, 2021.
