New Delhi : The Covid-19 situation continues to be grim in India as the spike in new cases has assumed alarming proportion with 62,258 new cases being recorded across the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,19,08,910 cases at 8 am on March 27, 2021. India had recorded 59,118 new Covid-19 cases on March 26, 2021. On the other hand, a total of 30,386 Covid-19 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,12,95,023 on March 27, 2021. The recoveries were 32,987 on March 26.
The Active cases (4,52,647) accounted for 3.8% of the total Covid-19 cases ( 1,19,08,910) on March 27, 2021, a huge increase of 31,581 cases in last 24 hours. India has tested 23,97,69,553 samples so far including 11,64,915 samples on March 26, 2021. On the other hand, a total of 5,81,09,773 persons have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the country so far including 26,05,333 beneficiaries on March 26. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 patients dropped to 94.85% in India on March 27 from 95.09% on March 26, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
The Covid-19 toll jumped to 1,61,240 in India on March 27 with 291 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 112 in Maharashtra, 59 in Punjab, 22 in Chhattisgarh, 14 in Kerala, 13 in Karnataka, 9 in Tamilnadu, 9 in Delhi, 9 in Madhya Pradesh, 8 in Haryana, 6 in Gujarat, 6 in Uttar Pradesh, 4 in West Bengal, 4 in Chandigarh, 3 in Rajasthan, 3 in Jharkhand, 2 in Bihar, and 2 in Andhra Pradesh. India had recorded 257 new deaths on March 26, 2021. The case fatality rate dropped to 1.35% in the country on March 27, 2021.
