New Delhi : The phenomenal increase in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured/discharged continues in India reaching 27,74,801 at 8 am on August 31, 2020, an increase of 60,868 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by 19,92,826, a huge gap. The number of active cases in India was 7,81,975 on August 31, 2020, which is 21.59% of the total COVID cases reported in the country till date. A total of 64,935 COVID patients were declared cured on August 30, 2020.

India has reported 36,21,245 COVID cases till date of which 27,74,801 patients have been declared cured/discharged with the recovery rate being 76.63%. Altogether 78,512 new COVID cases were detected in the country during last 24 hours. So far, 4,23,07,914 COVID samples have been tested in India including 8,46,278 on August 30, 2020.

Altogether 5,62,401 patients have been declared cured in Maharashtra, 3,62,133 in Tamilnadu, 3,21,754 in Andhra Pradesh, 2,42,229 in Karnataka, 1,42,171 in Delhi, 1,67,543 in UP, and 1,30,952 in West Bengal, till date, according to Union Health Ministry.

The COVID death toll shot up to 64,469 on August 31, 2020, with 971 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 296 from Maharashtra, 106 from Karnataka, 94 from Tamilnadu, 88 from Andhra Pradesh, 67 from UP, 50 from West Bengal, 56 from Punjab, 17 from Gujarat, 29 from MP, and 22 from Delhi. The Case Fatality Rate has dropped to 1.78% in the country, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The COVID-19 toll break-up in India on August 31, 2020, is : Maharashtra (24,399), Tamilnadu (7,231), Delhi (4,426), Karnataka (5,589), Gujarat (3,006), Andhra Pradesh (3,884), Uttar Pradesh (3,423), West Bengal (3,176), Madhya Pradesh (1,374), Rajasthan (1,043),  Punjab (1,404), Telengana (827), J&K (694), Haryana (682), Bihar (578), Odisha (482), Jharkhand (410), Assam (296), Uttarakhand (257), Kerala (287),  Chhattisgarh (269), Puducherry (221), Goa (183), Tripura (103), Chandigarh (52),  Andaman & Nicobar (45), Himachal Pradesh (35), Ladakh (34), Manipur (28), Nagaland (9), Meghalaya (10), Arunachal Pradesh (7), Sikkim (3), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 688 in the state on August 30, 2020.
