New Delhi : The surge in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured/discharged continues in India reaching 25,83,948 at 8am on August 28, 2020, an increase of 60,177 in last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases by a huge margin of 18,41,925. On August 27, 2020, a total of 56,013 patients had been declared cured/discharged in the country.
The number of active was 7,42,023 in the country on August 28, 2020. India has reported 33,87,500 COVID-19 cases till date of which 25,83,948 ( 76.28%) have been declared cured/discharged. A total of 3,94,77,848 COVID samples have been tested in the country till date including 9,01,338 samples tested on August 27, 2020.
Altogether 5,31,563 patients have been declared cured in Maharashtra, 3,43,930 in Tamilnadu, 2,95,248 in Andhra Pradesh, 2,19,554 in Karnataka, 1,50,027 in Delhi, 1,52,893 in UP, and 1,21,046 in West Bengal, till date, according to Union Health Ministry.
The COVID death toll shot up to 61,529 on August 28, 2020, with 1,057 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 355 from Maharashtra,141 from Karnataka, 109 from Tamilnadu, 92 from Andhra Pradesh, 68 from UP, 53 from West Bengal, 37 from Punjab, 17 from Gujarat, 24 from MP, and 22 from Delhi. The Case Fatality Rate has dropped to 1.82% in the country, according to Union Health Ministry figure.
The COVID-19 toll break-up in India on August 28, 2020, is : Maharashtra (23,444), Tamilnadu (6,948), Delhi (4,369), Karnataka (5,232), Gujarat (2,962), Andhra Pradesh (3,633), Uttar Pradesh (3,217), West Bengal (3,017), Madhya Pradesh (1,306), Rajasthan (1,005), Punjab (1,256), Telengana (799), J&K (671), Haryana (646), Bihar (538), Odisha (448), Jharkhand (373), Assam (278), Uttarakhand (228), Kerala (267), Chhattisgarh (245), Puducherry (190), Goa (171), Tripura (89), Chandigarh (43), Andaman & Nicobar (42), Himachal Pradesh (33), Ladakh (27), Manipur (25), Nagaland (9), Meghalaya (8), Arunachal Pradesh (5), Sikkim (3), and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (2 ).
As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll was 662 in the state on August 27, 2020.
