Gopalganj: A Gopalganj police team comprising SDPO and policemen from seven police stations chased a truck for over 64 km and seized huge quantity of IMFL from the vehicle under Pipra police station late on December 25 night. Over 600 cartons were seized by the police teams.

Gopalganj SDPO Manoj Kumar had received inputs that huge consignment of liquor was being smuggled. Kumar laid a trap on Koinee highway under Manjha police station around 11.30 pm. However, the truck driver escaped from there giving a dodge to the cops. SDPO directed Barauli ps SHO Chandrika Prasad, Sidhwaliya ps SHO Arvind Kumar and Mahammadpur ps SHO Munna Kumar to chase the truck.

An alert message was also sent to East Champaran SP, DSP, Khajuriya and Piprakothi ps SHO regarding the movement of the truck laden with liquor. The cops managed to intercept the truck and handed over the vehicle to Piprakothi police. The cops at Piprakothi ps were stunned to find 600 cartons of IMFL worth Rs 48 lakh inside the truck, which was on way to Muzaffarpur from Rajasthan.

It may be mentioned here that earlier, a truck carrying 403 cartons of IMFL was seized at Balthari check-post on November 21 and this truck was also on way to Muzaffarpur. The very next day, another truck on way to Darbhanga was also seized with liquor on it.
