Siwan :  Six students and two teachers sustained injuries when a bus carrying the students of Upgraded Middle School, Semaria II under Nautan police station in Siwan district, for tour to Patna, collided head on with a speeding truck near village
Nathanpura on Siwan-Basantpur main road under GB Nagar police station in the district on November 22, 2018, morning, due to dense fog.
The children were on a tour of Patna under Mukhyamantri Shaikchanik Paribhram Yojana when the mishap took place. Under the scheme, every middle and high school of the state gets Rs 20,000 in a year for sending the students on tour to other cities.
Such was the impact of the collision that front portion of the truck was completely damaged. Drivers of both bus and truck were trapped in the engine room. On getting information, police force from GB Nagar and Sarai police stations reached the spot. A large crowd gathered on the spot as the news spread in the area.
Seeing the drivers of the two vehicles trapped in their cabins, a JCB machine was rushed to the spot and the truck driver was
pulled out of the cabin. When the attempt to pull out bus driver failed with help of JCB, a gas cutter machine was brought on the spot and then he was pulled out.
Both the drivers were admitted to Siwan Sadar Hospital where the condition of truck driver was stated to be serious. The  doctors at the hospital referred truck driver to PMCH but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. He was identified as Vikas
Rai, a resident of Bhadaur under Barh sub-division in Patna district.
Two of the injured school teachers of the school were identified as Vishwajit Prasad and Mithilesh Kumari. The students, who sustained injuries in the road accident, have been identified as Sachin Kumar, Ranjan Kumar, Sahbaz, Roshani Kumari, Sibhawati Kumari, and Kiran Kumari.
GB Nagar police station SHO Lalan Kumar said that on November 22 morning, the students of Upgraded Middle School under Nautan police station in the district were on way to Patna on tour through Basantpur route. He said that besides the students, there were four teachers of the school in the bus. Due to dense fog, an iron rod laden truck, coming from opposite direction, collided head-on with the bus, he added.
A school teacher, accompanying the students, Mithilesh Kumari said that the students were on way to Patna on a tour on the bus and they had left school at 6 am. She said that at village Nathanpur on Siwan-Basantpur road, a speeding truck coming from opposite direction collided head on with the bus causing injuries to several students.
