Patna : Six members of a family were roasted alive after fire broke out at their thatched house at village Bakhri under
Kuchaikot police station in Gopalganj district on February 21, 2019, late night. Four members of the family died on the spot while two kids succumbed to their burn injuries while undergoing treatment. Gopalganj DM Animesh Kumar Parasar, however, confirmed death of four persons only in the fire. The DM has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
Police said that family members of one Bakriddin Sah had gone to sleep after having their food at around 9.30 pm on February 21. Suddenly fire broke at the house and while trying to save themselves Bakriddin and his wife Husantara Khatoon (35) were roasted alive. Two other members of the family including five year old girl were also roasted alive.
Sah’s daughter Shamima Khatoon (10), Safrina Khatoon (8), and Salauddin (7) and a newborn baby sustained serious burn injuries. They were brought to Sadar Hospital at Gopalganj where doctors referred them to Gorakhpur for treatment.
On getting information, Gopalganj DM Animesh Parasar reached Sadar Hospital, Siwan. DM Animesh said that the reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained. Quoting the family members, he said that fire broke out due to electric wire. The DM  said that the family would get compensation as per rules.
