Patna : A six-member central team of experts headed by Dr Chakradhar Tosh, Principal Scientist, ICAR- National Institute of High Security Animal Disease (NISHAD) , Bhopal, on January 4, 2019, visited Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park (SGBP), Patna, and assessed the intensity of outbreak of H5N1Avian Influenza at the park. The central team also collected samples of 10 birds of the Zoo. It will be sent to NISHAD, Bhopal, for test.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park remained closed for public even on January 4, 2019, as a precautionary measure. The SBBP authorities are awaiting the test report of 26 samples sent to NISHAD, Bhopal, on December 31, 2018. Director, SGBP Park, on January 4 claimed that all the birds and animals at the park were safe. Virkon-S disinfection was sprayed into all the cages of sector -1 & sector 2 of animal division, veterinary hospital, grain and feed store, at the park on January 4, according to a SGBP release.
