Bokaro (Jharkhand) : Six students of DPS Bokaro, Jharkhand, cleared the second round of Hanoi Open Mathematics Competition (HOMC) 2020-21. They are among the top fifty students selected from the country for the final round. The top twelve students in the finals will represent India at the Global Maths Competition- HOMC .
Utkarsh Raj and Sidhant Tripathy (Class VIII); and Shashank Nandan, Sarika Spershika, Tamanna Ray, and Sayan Karmakar (Class IX), are the students from DPS Bokaro making it to the finals of HOMC (2020-21).
In the first round of HOMC, more than 6,000 students across the country participated through the virtual platform of which 500 students from across India were shortlisted for the second round. Among the top 500 students, 50 students are shortlisted for the final round which include six students of DPS Bokaro.
HOMC is organised by Meccademia Education Institute for Junior (Grade 7 & 8) and Senior (Grade 9 & 10) students with the objective to identify and nurture mathematical talent and motivate the students at junior and senior high schools.
A S Gangwar, Principal, DPS Bokaro, congratulated the students and encouraged them to put in their best at the next level. “The competition promotes interest in mathematics among young students and helps in the development of mathematical acumen,” said Gangwar.
