New Delhi : The upswing in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured continues in India reaching 16,95,982 at 8 am on August 13, 2020, a record increase 56,383 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases in the country by 10,42,360, crossing one million mark for the first time. The number of active cases in India stands at 6,53,622.

A total of 2,68,45,688 COVID samples have been tested in the country till date. Altogether 8,30,391 COVID samples were tested during last 24 hours.

The COVID-19 death toll, on the other hand, surged to 47,033 with 962 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during past 24 hours including 344 from Maharashtra, 119 from Tamilnadu, 112 from Karnataka, 93 from Andhra Pradesh, 54 from UP, 54 from West Bengal, 18 from Gujarat, and 14 from Delhi.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on August 13, 2020, is : Maharashtra (18,650),Tamilnadu (5,278), Delhi (4,153), Karnataka (3,510), Gujarat (2,713), Andhra Pradesh (2,296), Uttar Pradesh (2,230), West Bengal (2,203), Madhya Pradesh (1,048), Rajasthan (822), Telengana (665), Punjab (675), Haryana (503), J&K (498), Bihar (416), Odisha (305), Jharkhand (197), Assam (161), Uttarakhand (140), Kerala (126),  Chhattisgarh (109), Puducherry (96), Goa (89), Tripura (44), Chandigarh (26),  Andaman & Nicobar (21), Himachal Pradesh (18), Manipur (12), Ladakh (9), Nagaland (8), Meghalaya (6), Arunachal Pradesh (3), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu( 2), and Sikkim (1).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to the State Government, the COVID death toll had reached 474 in the state on August 12, 2020.
