Muzaffarpur : An Excise Department team seized 556 cartons of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth about Rs 2 crore from a truck at village Marwan under Karja police station in Muzaffarpur district in the wee hours on June 8, 2018. The liquor consignment was to be delivered to one Munna Rai, 35, a liquor dealer, of village Raksa under Karja police station.

The Excise Department team conducted raid at Munna Rai’s Raksa residence but he was not found there. Excise Superintendent, Muzaffarpur, Deenbandhu, said that the driver and cleaner of the truck, who hail from Muzaffarnagar, UP, had been arrested but one Pandit, who had accompanied them from Ambala in Haryana to Marwan and was at a line hotel located nearby when the liquor was seized, managed to escape.

Deenbandhu said that the Excise Team was searching for Munna Rai. He said that liquor was hidden beneath bags full of rotten potatoes. He said that the liquor was seized at 1.30 am on June 8, 2018.
