New Delhi : The phenomenal increase in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured continues in India reaching 17,51,555 at 8 am on August 14, 2020, an increase 55,573 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number or active cases in the country by 10,89,960. The number of active cases in the country stands at 6,61,595, an increase of 7,973 during the last 24 hours.

A total of 2,76,94,416 COVID samples have been tested in the country till date. Altogether 8,48,728 COVID samples were tested on August 14, 2020.

On the negative side, the COVID-19 death toll in India jumped to 48,040 on August 14, 2020, with 1,007 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 413 from Maharashtra, 119 from Tamilnadu, 103 from Karnataka, 82 from Andhra Pradesh, 56 from West Bengal, and 50 from UP. The COVID death toll crossed hundred mark in UT Puducherry on August 14, 2020, reaching 102.

The COVID-19 death toll break-up in India on August 14, 2020, is : Maharashtra (19,063),Tamilnadu (5,397), Delhi (4,167), Karnataka (3,613), Gujarat (2,731), Andhra Pradesh (2,378), Uttar Pradesh (2,280), West Bengal (2,259), Madhya Pradesh (1,065), Rajasthan (833), Telengana (674), Punjab (706), Haryana (511), J&K (509), Bihar (426), Odisha (314), Jharkhand (209), Assam (169), Uttarakhand (143), Kerala (129),  Chhattisgarh (114), Puducherry (102), Goa (91), Tripura (46), Chandigarh (27),  Andaman & Nicobar (22), Himachal Pradesh (19), Manipur (13), Ladakh (9), Nagaland (8), Meghalaya (6), Arunachal Pradesh (4), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu( 2), and Sikkim (1).

As far Bihar figure goes, according to the State Government, the COVID death toll had reached 484 in the state on August 13, 2020.
