New Delhi : The upswing in the number of COVID-19 patients getting cured continues in India reaching 18,62,258 at 8 am on August 16, 2020, an increase of 53,322 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases by 11,84,814. The number of active cases stands at 6,77,444 in India.
In Maharashtra alone, 4,08,286 COVI patients have been declared cured followed by 2,72,251 in Tamilnadu, 1,91,117 in Andhra Pradesh, and 1,,34,811 in Karnataka.
COVID-19 death toll in India, on the other hand, has jumped to 49,980 with 894 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country during last 24 hours including 322 from Maharashtra, 114 from Karnataka, 87 from Andhra Pradesh, 58 from UP, 58 from West Bengal, 40 from Punjab, and 10 from Delhi. The COVID death toll has climbed to 19,749 in Maharshtra.

As far Bihar figure goes, according to State Health Department, the COVID death toll had reached 515 in the state on August 15, 2020.
