New Delhi : The surge in number of COVID-19 patients declared cured continues in India reaching 12,82,215 at 8 am on August 5, 2020, an increase of 51,706 during last 24 hours, exceeding the number of active cases by 6,95,971. The number of active cases stands at 5,86,244 in the country.

COVID-19 death toll, on the other hand, has jumped to 39,795 with 857 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country including 300 from Maharashtra, 110 from Karnataka, 108 from Tamilnadu, 67 from Andhra Pradesh, 54 from West Bengal, and 39 from UP during last 24 hours, according to Union Health Ministry sources.

The Coronavirus death toll break-up in India is : Maharashtra (16,142), Delhi (4,033), Tamilnadu (4,349), Gujarat (2,533), Karnataka (2,704), Uttar Pradesh (1,817), West Bengal (1,785), Andhra Pradesh ( 1,604), Madhya Pradesh (912), Rajasthan (732), Telengana (576), Haryana (448), Punjab (462), J&K (417), Bihar (347), Odisha (216), Jharkhand (128), Assam (115), Uttarakhand (95), Kerala (87),  Chhattisgarh (69), Goa (60), Puducherry (58), Tripura (30), Chandigarh (20), Himachal Pradesh (14), Andaman & Nicobar (12), Ladakh (7), Manipur (7), Meghalaya (5), Nagaland (5), Arunachal Pradesh (3), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu( 2), and Sikkim (1).

As far COVID patients getting cured goes, in Maharashtra 2,99,356, patients have been cured till date followed by 2,08,784 in Tamilnadu, 1,25,226 in Delhi, 95,625 in Andhra Pradesh, 69,272 in Karnataka, 57,272 in UP, 56,884 in West Bengal, 48,376 in Gujarat, 40,348 in Bihar, 34,421 in Assam, 32,832 in Rajasthan, 31,226 in Haryana, 25,414 in MP, and 14,856 in J&K.
