Sasaram : Five persons died at village Danwar under Kachhawa police station in Rohtas district after consuming spurious liquor on January 14, 2018. The condition of two others is stated to be serious. CM Nitish Kumar has sought adetail report about the incident.
Confirming the incident, IG, Technical Cell and Wireless, Md Rahman, said that some persons consumed illicit liquor at village Danwar and fell ill. They were immediately rushed to Sasaram Sadar Hospital but five persons died while condition of two persons is critical. IG Rahman said that 12 police personnel including SHO, Kachhawa police station, Mukesh Kumar, had been suspended for dereliction of duty after the incident.
Rohtas DM Animesh Parashar and SP Manavjeet Singh Dhillo rushed to the spot ordered for stern action against those responsible for the incident. A team have been formed to inquire  into the incident and submit its report at the earliest. Both the officials said that they would also recommend action against the local SDPO, Neeraj Kumar, and the Excise Department officials concerned.
On the other hand, the villagers said that despite ban on sale and purchase of liquor, liquor smugglers were still quite active in the area and liquor is easily available.
