Motihari : Five persons were charred to death when a Delhi bound bus from Muzaffarpur fell into a ditch near village Bagra on NH 28 under Kotwa police station in East Champaran district in North Bihar and caught fire at 3 pm on May 3, 2018. Eight passengers managed to come out of the blazing bus.
Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik and CM Nitish Kumar have expressed their shock and profound grief over the incident and mourned those dying in the incident.
The bus had the capacity to accomodate 42 passengers. Thirteen passengers were booked from Muzaffarpur and 27 from Gopalganj. As the bus met with an accident before reaching Gopalganj, it clearly suggests there were only 13 passengrs inside the vehicle when it caught fire of which 8 were able to come out. Obvioulsy, only 5 prsons died in the mishap not 27 as reported by many agencies.
Principal Secretary, Disaster Management Department, Pratyay Amrit, said that the East Champaran DM was on the spot to supervise the rescue operation.
