5 killed, 17 injured in explosion at Khasganj in Nalanda district

Biharsharif ( Nalanda) : Five persons including three children and a woman died while 17 others were injured in an explosion at a house at Khasganj locality under Sohsarai police station in Nalanda district late March 22, 2018, night,  where firecrackers were stored. Nalanda SP Sudhir Kumar Porika said that the tenant of the house Sarfraz was among the 17 injured and was admitted to hospital.

SP Porika said that the explosion took place at 10.30 pm on March 22 night in residential locality Khasganj. He said that the explosion took place at the house where Sarfraz used to store firecrackers. He used to live in the house as a tenant. He said four membrs of Sarfraz’s family including his three children – two daughters and a son- died in the explosion. His sister and a neighbour were also killed in the explosion.

Of the 17 injured, the condition of four was serious and they were rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH).
A major fire broke out at the house after the explosion since a huge quantity of inflammable material was stored there. The fire was extinguished after few hours. Action is likely to be taken against SHO, Sohsarai police station, for his alleged failure to check such activity.
An FIR has been registered against Sarfraz.
