Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, arrested five arms smugglers on November 11, 2018, and seized a shot gun, a countrymade pistol, five live cartridges, six cellphones, a Bolero car, one motorcycle bearing and Rs 16,000 cash from their possession.

The arrested miscreants were identified as Nitesh Kumar, son of Suresh Ram of Neknam Tola under Barhara police station, Suman Kumar, son of Anil Kumar of Gausganj under Ara Town police station, Sumit Pandey, son of Kanhaiya Pandey alias Chandhar Pandey of Shahpur in Buxar district, and Suresh Kumar alias Suresh Ram, son of Butan Ram of Neknam Tola under Barhara police station. A named FIR has been lodged with Barhara police station against the arrested arms smugglers, who were sent to jail after interrogation.

Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said that he got information that some arms smugglers have assembled at some place under Barhara police station in the district. He immediately formed a police team that conducted raids in the wee hour on November 11 and arrested five arms smugglers along with firearms from Kehsopur Chowk and Neknam Tola under Barhara police station. The SP said that the miscreants confessed during interrogation that they were planning to commit crime during the Chhath in the area but police foiled their bid.

The SP stated that Suresh Kumar had criminal background and a case was lodged against him with Barhara police station in connection with a crime earlier.
