New Delhi: Covid-19 situation continues to be grim in India as a total of 47,262 new cases were recorded in the country in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,17,34,058 cases at 8 am on March 24, 2021. On the other hand, a total of 23,907 patients were declared cured / discharged in India in last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,12,05,160 on March 24,2021.

The active cases (3,68,457) on March 24, 2021, accounted for 3.14% of the total Covid-19 cases (1,17,34,058)recorded so far in India, an increase of 23,080 cases in last 24 hours. India has tested 23,64,38,861 samples so far including 10,25,628 samples on March 23, 2021. Meanwhile,5,08,41,286 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in India so far including 23,46,692 beneficiaries on March 23, 2021. The recovery rate (RR) of Covid-19 cases was 95.49% in India on March 24, 2021, according to Union Health Ministry figure.

The Covid-19 surged to 1,60,441 in India on March 24, 2021, with 275 new deaths being recorded in the country in last 24 hours including 132 in Maharashtra, 53 in Punjab, 20 in Chhattisgarh, 10 in Kerala, 9 in Tamilnadu, 5 in Karnataka, 4 in Gujarat, 4 in Himachal Pradesh, 4 in Rajasthan, 4 in Delhi, 4 in Madhya Pradesh, 4 in Uttar Pradesh,3 in Haryana, 3 in Goa,  2 in West Bengal, 2 in Andhra Pradesh, 2 in Bihar,and 1 in Jharkhand. India had recorded 199 new deaths on March 23, 2021.
