Ara : After detection of nine Coronavirus positive cases in Bhojpur district, Ward No 1 to Ward No 41 of 45 wards of Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC) were sealed on April 27, 2020, late evening, restricting all types of activities in these areas. Police force and magistrates have been deputed and ordered to keep round the clock vigil on the situation and strictly enforce provisions of lockdown. Ara Sadar Hospital has been sanitised and sealed.

Ara Sadar SDO Arun Prakash said that areas to the west of Ara railway lines have been completely sealed though some shops dealing in essential items have been allowed to open. He said that legal action would be taken against the violators of the lockdown. He said that district administration has allowed five business establishments to open and they will deliver necessary items door to door.

Though Bhojpur district administration tried to enforce lockdown completely in different areas of Bhojpur district, some residents are seen gathering at a point at different places for a chat. Two and four- wheelers and autorickshaws are plying on roads without valid reason and so police patrolling has been intensified. Almost all the private clinics and nursing homes in Bhojpur district remain closed.

Meanwhile, the people are finding it difficult to get vegetables and fruits. Bhojpur district administration, after sealing the Goal Road and Sheesh Mahal Chowk, had fixed Ramana Maidan for the vegetable and fruit vendors and they installed their makeshift shops there on April 27, 2020, but the district administration removed them from there the same evening and sealed the areas. The people have been asked to use masks and gloves while coming out of their houses and also wash their hands with sanitisers or shops frequently.

On the other hand, villagers of Haradiya Panchayat Ward No 3 of Jagdishpur block in Bhojpur themselves sealed their village putting a  placard declaring that the outsiders are not allowed to enter the village.
