Muzaffarpur : Police seized around 400 cartons of foreign liquor ( Royal Stag) from a truck coming from Haryana near Chandini Chowk under Brahmpura police station, Muzaffarpur, on late February 16, 2017, night. Police also arrested driver and Khalasi of the truck. The cartons containing liquor was found hidden under cattle feed.

Muzaffarpur SSP Vivek Kumar said the seized liquor was worth Rs 1.5 crore. The two arrested persons were identified as Dipak and Dharmvir, both from Haryana, he said. They told police that Ravindra Seth of Haryana had sent them to Chandini Chowk, Muzaffarpur, to deliver the liquor consignment and for it both of them were to be paid Rs 5,000 each.

The truck driver said that they had reached Chandini Chowk in the afternoon itself on February 16 but the liquor mafia told them that he would receive the consignment in the night. Police are looking into the call details of the mobile phone seized from the driver to identify the liquor dealer who was to receive the consignment. Police sources said that the liquor dealers were trying to stock liquor for Holi festival. It may recalled here that foreign liquor worth Rs One crore was recently seized in neighbouring Vaishali district.
