Sonbarsa,  Belsand, Parihar,  Sursand, Bathanaha, and Bajpatti in the district, were reeling under flood. Four community kitchens are functional at Sursand and Parihar blocks.

Some school buildings have been earmarked as shelter homes. Rivers like Bagmati,  Lalbakeya,  Adhawara Group, Jhim, Rato, and Hardi are flowing above danger marks. The river Lakhandei, which flows near Sitamarhi town, is also in spate sand the water has entered low lying areas of the town.  So far four lives have been lost in the flood this week in the district mostly due to drowning while taking bath in rivers or rivulets.
Sitamarhi administration is  geared up to face any flood related challenges, said DM Abhilasha Kumari Sharma and added that the administration was keeping a close watch on Bagmati river embankments.
With the flood water overtopping the roads communication between Sitamarhi- Sursand, Sitamarhi-Parihar, and Sitamarhi- Sheohar has been snapped causing a lot of hardships to the people.
